In a recently concluded Round Table discussion of academic leaders with the topic “Empowering Future Leaders in the Digital Age: Harnessing Technology for Collaborative Management Education” convened by newly formed West Zone body of the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) at the Pinewoods Golf Club, Pune on September 02, ‘23.
Event commenced with guests congratulating Dr. Ganesh Rao, Group Advisor, S. B. Patil Group of Institutions, and Dr. Amol Gawande, Director, Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, Pune for their recent election to the AIMS National Executive Body. This recognition underscored their significant contributions to academia and the institution’s commitment to their roles within AIMS.
Distinguished attendees included chancellors, vice-chancellors, directors, and deans, representing nearly 40 colleges and universities. During this intensive two-hour deliberation, academic leaders delved into the confluence of pedagogy and generational dynamics, with a particular focus on the transformative potential of technology in management education
Some of the key takeaways of the discussion are tabled as under:
- Abhay Kulkarni, Director, IICMR stressed on Bridging the Gap: Stressed on the role of technology in narrowing the gap between academia and industry. By incorporating real-world experiences into the curriculum, students can be better prepared for the workforce.
- Sandeep Sane, Director, ASM’s IBMR – PGDM indicated the need for Industry-Academia Partnership: Collaboration between industry and academia is important. Industry specialists ought to mentor and guide students, making sure they are process-equipped upon commencement of their career.
- Anil Kashyap, Chancellor, NICMAR viewpoint was on Cultivating Mindsets: Faculty members play a vital function in developing students’ mindsets, fostering important wondering and adaptability.
- Atul Kumar, Dean Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, Pune highlighted the importance of Local Collaboration: Rather than looking for international alliances, institutes have to collaborate regionally, pooling resources, sharing best practises and expertise.
- Aditya Bavadekar, Director Business, MIMA Institute of Management spoke in-depth on Interactive Learning: Technology can create attractive gaining knowledge of environments, enhancing academically driven participation.
- Chetan Wakalkar called for attention in Technology Integration: Incorporating AI, ML, and VR into the curriculum equips students with important capabilities for the future. In essence, the panel highlighted that era-pushed, collaborative training is the key to empowering future managers within the ever-evolving digital age.
The panel discussion was adeptly moderated by Dr. Arpit Trivedi, CMO, Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, and Dr. Minakshi Tyagi, Dean,Pune Business School.
Academic leaders from across Maharashtra strongly agreed on AIMS taking the lead in implementing such ground breaking transformative initiatives. They also stressed the need for regularly organizing ongoing intellectually stimulating events to promote knowledge dissemination.
Program ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ganesh Rao in which he assured the academic fraternity that AIMS will walk an extra mile to satisfy the needs of all the stakeholders.
